Kawagoe, Saitama, is known as the “City of Storehouses” for its beautiful streets lined with traditional Kura-style buildings.
We took our customers from Singapore to visit the only sake brewery in Kawagoe, Koedo Kagamiyama Sake Brewery, the brewer of “KAGAMIYAMA“.
In this newsletter, we will share the details of our brewery tour!
The streets of Kawagoe, are home to the brewery.
Known as “Koedo” (Little Edo) in the Kanto region, Kawagoe is a popular tourist spot due to its proximity to the city center.
In this Koedo Kawagoe, there is a sake brewery with one of Japan’s most compact sizes.
The size of the brewery is equivalent to a single tennis court!
The CEO of the brewery is Mr. Tomoyuki Igarashi.
Despite his busy schedule, he took his time to show us around with a detailed explanation.
First, we tasted Nama Sake poured directly from the keg.
It had a slight gas feeling unique to freshly squeezed Nama Sake with a fresh and fruity flavor.
Next, we observed the sake tanks from the above.
When the tank lids were opened, a sweet aroma spread around us.
We also had a tasting session here.
Our customers from Singapore were delighted.
At a nearby antenna shop, we also had the opportunity to taste sake made with wine yeast, sake brewed with secondary fermentation (Kijoshu), and Yuzu liqueur from IGARASHI BREWERY, a sibling brewery.
One of Japan’s most notable small sake breweries with a strong presence,
